The Revised Third Draft Housing Element Now Available for Public Comment
The City of Cupertino has revised the 2023-2031 Draft Housing Element to address informal comments received from the State of California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) on the Third Draft. The revised Third Draft Housing Element is available for review on the City’s website at engagecupertino.org/public-documents.
Comments on the Third Draft Housing Element can be submitted via email: housing@cupertino.org or by mailing or delivering handwritten comments in person to the Department of Community Development, Attention: Luke Connolly, 10300 Torre Ave, Cupertino, CA 95014.

When it comes to housing, both youth and older adults find themselves in very interesting positions, with unique barriers and challenges. This community meeting included a panel of De Anza students, Cupertino high school students, and older adults, who shared their experiences related to housing. Hear new perspectives and to share your own experiences.

On Tuesday, June 28 at 6:45 p.m., a Special Joint Planning Commission-Housing Commission Meeting was held to discuss the City’s Housing Element Update. The Planning Commission met on May 24 at 6:45 p.m. to discuss the establishment of a housing sites selection inventory and strategies to promote the development of new housing. Please see the meeting details and materials here. The meeting recording is below.
On Monday, May 23rd, West Valley Community Services hosted a Cupertino Housing Element: Community Meeting for Inclusive Housing in partnership with the City of Cupertino. During this hybrid event, community members came together to learn about Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing and hear from four panelists about their experiences with homelessness, housing, disabilities, veteran status, discrimination, and more. There were about 50 virtual and 20 in person attendees. Community members also had the opportunity to have dialogue with one another during two breakout rooms. They discussed why they attended this meeting, how hearing from people with lived experience changed their perspective, and what their own experiences with housing were.
