(Phase 4) Memorial Park Specific Plan – Survey Questions for Round 2 Outreach

Welcome! The City of Cupertino is revitalizing Memorial Park and needs your feedback! Share your thoughts about newly designed park concepts to revitalize Memorial Park.

After hearing from the community about park features and scenarios in Fall 2022, the City has prepared three park concepts to consider for the Memorial Park Specific Plan. All three concepts included in this survey blend important aspects of the park’s identity as a civic event space, community gathering space, and natural site and park. Feedback received on these park concepts will help create enhanced experiences for the Cupertino community and future park visitors.

The survey will take about 10-15 minutes. For ages 12 and under, parents are encouraged to help their children complete the survey.

Thank you for your participation!

Overview of Concepts

Memorial Park is a well-established and successful park poised for revitalization by implementing a new, integrative park design as part of the Memorial Park Specific Plan.

The three park concepts presented in this survey were created based on input from the community earlier in the project. The design team considered community input received about all aspects of the park, including accessibility, connectivity, sustainability, safety, recreation, community-building, health and wellness, and others when, developing the park concepts. A full summary of community feedback for the Memorial Park Specific Plan can be found here.

All three park concepts include specific elements of Memorial Park that are to remain unchanged. This survey is not seeking feedback about the existing elements listed below.

  1. Quinlan Community Center
  2. Cupertino Senior Center
  3. Parking Lots
  4. Veterans Memorial
  5. Gazebo
  6. Trees

Three Unique Design Concepts

To present diverse alternative concepts to the community for feedback, it was important to find unique themes or areas of focus for each design. The three identity scenarios for Memorial Park—civic event space, community gathering space, and natural site and park—identified in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and outlined in earlier community outreach efforts were used as the inspiration for the designs. However, each park concept includes a variety of features that represent all three park scenarios. Survey participants will be asked about their likes and dislikes of each concept. Concept designs can be downloaded here. The received feedback will further guide the park’s design into a single, preferred plan.
