Consultation has concluded

The City of Cupertino is considering a name change for the I-280 Trail. With the name change, the City hopes to select a name that reflects Cupertino's history, culture, and residents.

At the May 18, 2022, Bicycle Pedestrian Commission Meeting, the commission discussed the name change. It concluded that a survey allowing residents to participate in selecting a new name would be the best course of action.

The City will collect community input about this potential name change in January. Sign up to follow this project under the Follow Project tab to receive an update when the survey opens.

    I-280 Trail Name Change Survey

Call to Action: Help decide the future name of the I-280 Trail

    Introduction:

The City of Cupertino would like your help selecting a name for the new trail that will parallel the south side of Interstate 280 between the Don Burnett Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge and Vallco Pkwy. At the December 21, 2021, City Council Meeting, City Council directed staff to refrain from using the Junipero Serra name and research alternatives. Staff selected the interim name, I-280 Trail, from the 2018 Bicycle Transportation Plan. At the May 18, 2022, Bicycle Pedestrian Commission Meeting, the name change was discussed, and the commission recommended that staff conduct public outreach to solicit feedback on potential names.

The City is collecting community input from Friday, January 6 through Monday, January 30, about this potential name change. Select the top choice you like best by taking a short survey.

This survey is scheduled to close on  January 30, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.
